Top Drawer A/W 2017 highlights - part 1 (Gift)

Firstly, thanks for the overwhelming response to my post about the CLT housing campaign. It’s something I’m very proud of so seeing the response over the past week has made me very happy indeed!

Yesterday marked one of the my favourite events of the year - Top Drawer (Autumn/Winter). For those who don’t know, Top Drawer is an exhibition held in Kensington Olympia that showcases the finest up-and-coming products and designs from a range of sectors, from homeware, to fashion, to art and everything in-between. I’ve been attending for over 7 years now, so it has now become an integral part of my September. With hundreds of fantastic exhibitors, I struggled to whittle my highlights down just to one post. I have therefore decided to divide my favourite exhibitors into the sectors they were showcased in and then post them throughout the week.

I will start off with ‘Gift’, which is the broadest of the 6 sectors, covering a range of different products including homeware, accessories and cosmetics. Here are my highlights from the show (in no particular order):

a) All The Ways To Say - Stand ZA34
Based in France and founded by illustrator Claire Leina in 2015; I’ve been a fan of their work for a while now, so it was a pleasure to finally see their stunning work up close. Plants were incorporated in many stalls throughout the exhibition, but these guys might have done it the best!

b) Corpo Sancto - Stand S16

Specialising in artisan rapeseed wax & wood wick candles, Brighton-based Corpo Sancto’s products caught my eye immediately. Their skull and baby head candles were among the most striking products in the entire exhibition!

c) Ding Ding - Stand ZA30
My love for bold and graphic prints knows no bounds, so naturally I was drawn to Ding Ding’s stand, showcasing their striking range of stationery and homeware. I particularly love their wooden planters!

d) Liljebergs - Stand N41
I’ve been following these Stockholm-based printmakers for a while now, so it was great to see the latest additions to their striking range of prints. I’ve been a lover of insects all my life and I have never seen a company show beauty in these species better than Liljebergs.

e) Livingly - Stand J14
There was a time when I thought mobiles were only for babies, but no more! Danish brand Livingly create modern, colourful and architectural mobiles, designed for grown-ups! These pieces would add a sense of life and vibrancy to any space.

f) Spineless Classics - R31
With so many prints and a finite amount of wall space to cover, I often get overwhelmed when looking at the array of wall art on show at Top Drawer. Spineless Classics' are quite possibly the most special and innovative prints I saw all day; each print contain the full text of a classic book such Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and A Clockwork Orange, stylised into striking images to complement the book itself.

g) Takazawa Candle - R26
One of my most anticipated exhibitors of all; legendary Japanese candle-makers Takazawa did not disappoint! Their stand put their beautiful goods at the forefront and made me want to buy absolutely everything they were showing.

h) WRAP - Z31
When I ordered a copy of Wrap Magazine a few years ago, I didn’t expect their incredible range of luxury paper goods to expand so much. They are now my go-to for wrapping paper and cards - and I’m sure I don’t need to convince you why!
